2027: ‘ Tinubu is coming back’ – Groups Rally Behind Defence Minister CG Musa, Say Opposition Knows Tinubu Will Win, That’s Why They Are Talking War
Groups say Utomi’s civil war threat is dangerous, irresponsible, and a threat to national security; demand security agencies act; hail CG MUSA’s leadership as hope for stability; declare Tinubu’s 2027 victory unstoppable
The attempt by Professor Pat Utomi to drag Nigeria into a civil war narrative ahead of the 2027 general elections has been roundly condemned by patriotic groups across the country who say Nigeria cannot afford political arsonists disguised as advocates.
The groups – Friends of CG MUSA, Arewa Concerned Citizens Forum and Citizens Support for Good Governance – also declared total support for the position of the Honourable Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd) who has boldly declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is coming back in 2027.
According to The Sun Nigeria report, the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd), has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure a second term in 2027, declaring that the President’s return to office is not in doubt.
Musa was quoted as saying: “The return of Mr President is not an issue that we should even start worrying about, because God’s willing, he is coming back. The task before us now is to provide the enabling environment for it to happen”.
Speaking with one voice for peace, Citizens Support for Good Governance in Abuja through their National Secretary Hon. Hamis Danbaba Malumfashi, the Convener of Friends of CG MUSA and Senior Special Assistant to Kaduna State Governor Hon. Victor Mathew Bobai, and Mohammed Hussain Moddibo of Arewa Concerned Citizens Forum, said Utomi’s warning that manipulation of 2027 elections could trigger civil war is not only reckless and inflammatory but a deliberate promotion of fear because the opposition already knows they will lose.
OPPOSITION KNOWS TINUBU WILL WIN, THAT’S WHY THEY TALK WAR
Hon. Victor Mathew Bobai, Convener of Friends of CG MUSA, who spoke on behalf of the coalition, said Utomi’s statement is unbecoming of a supposed statesman and smacks of desperation to set the country on fire for selfish political relevance, noting that the opposition has resorted to war mongering because they have seen the handwriting on the wall.
“Prof. Pat Utomi’s civil war prediction is irresponsible, dangerous and totally unacceptable. This is not political criticism; this is scaremongering of the highest order. At a time when the leadership of General CG Musa as Minister of Defence has restored hope, professionalism and confidence in our national security architecture, and has boldly declared that Tinubu is coming back in 2027, we should be preaching peace, unity and tranquility, not war songs,” Bobai said.
“The truth is simple: The opposition knows that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will win in 2027. They know Nigerians trust his Renewed Hope Agenda. They know the APC’s position that Tinubu’s re-election is non-negotiable is the reality on ground. That is why they are now talking of war. They want to create fear where there is none, to intimidate voters because they cannot win with ideas.”
He added: “What Nigeria has suffered in the hands of banditry, terrorism and communal clashes is enough. We will not allow any failed politician or disgruntled elite to use 2027 as an excuse to plunge this country into another civil war. No political ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian.”
Bobai stressed that while every Nigerian has a right to demand credible elections, that right does not include threatening the corporate existence of Nigeria.
“Democracy is not built by threatening civil war. It is built by building institutions. If Prof. Utomi has any evidence of electoral manipulation, let him present it to INEC and the courts as provided by law, not go to the public gallery to incite Nigerians against Nigeria. This pattern of doomsday prophecy by opposition elements is what has kept this country on edge,” he added.
UTOMI MUST BE CALLED TO ORDER
The coalition said Utomi’s statement should not be treated as ordinary political commentary but as a potential national security threat that requires proper scrutiny, especially when the Defence Minister himself has charged security directorates to ensure campaigns are peaceful and safe.
“We call on the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Defence Intelligence to investigate the intent, motive and possible networks behind this civil war threat. Nigeria cannot afford to treat such inciting statements with kid gloves. Where there is credible evidence of incitement, the person must be invited to explain himself in accordance with the law.
“Freedom of speech is not freedom to threaten war. If we allow this kind of talk to go unchallenged, we will embolden others to see war as a legitimate political tool,” Mohammed Hussain Moddibo of Arewa Concerned Citizens Forum stated.
On his part, Hon. Hamis Danbaba Malumfashi said: “What Utomi is promoting is exactly what enemies of Nigeria want — fear, division and hopelessness. But Nigerians are wiser. Under the current security leadership of General CG Musa, we have seen renewed coordination, commitment and hope. Our message is peace. Our stand is peace. Anybody promoting civil war is an enemy of the 200 million Nigerians who want to live in peace.”
2027 IS ABOUT IDEAS, NOT WAR THREATS – WE STAND WITH CG MUSA
The groups urged INEC, political parties, religious leaders and civil society to rise against the politics of fear and reject merchants of violence, while aligning fully with CG MUSA that Tinubu’s return is assured.
“Prof. Utomi and his ilk should know that elections will come and go but Nigeria will remain. We will not fold our arms and watch a few self-appointed prophets of doom hold Nigeria hostage because they are seeking relevance ahead of 2027. If you have no ideas to sell to Nigerians, you have no business threatening civil war,” Bobai declared.
“Friends of CG MUSA and our sister organizations will continue to mobilize Nigerians for peace, for unity, for democratic stability and for responsible political communication. We stand 100% with our leader, General CG Musa – Tinubu is coming back in 2027. Nigeria needs peace, not civil war rhetoric. Nigeria needs hope, which the leadership of CG MUSA at the Defence Ministry has continued to symbolize, not despair.”
The coalition concluded by urging all Nigerians, especially youths, to reject any call to violence, refuse to be used as tools for destabilization, and support President Tinubu and the security leadership of General CG Musa to guarantee a peaceful, free, fair and credible election in 2027.
