GENERAL CHRISTOPHER MUSA: THE QUIET FORCE BEHIND NIGERIA’S SECURITY REBOUND AND 2027 STABILITY
ABUJA — A coalition of Northern civic and political advocacy groups has commended Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, describing him as a stabilizing force in the country’s evolving security architecture and a key figure in safeguarding democratic continuity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a joint statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, Hon. Hamis Nababa, North-West Coordinator of Citizens Support for Good Governance (CSGG), alongside the National Women Leader of Arewa Support for Renewed Hope Agenda, Hajiya Hassana Modibo, praised the former Chief of Defence Staff for what they termed “quiet but effective leadership” in addressing Nigeria’s complex security challenges.
The statement highlighted that at a time when insurgency, banditry, and communal conflicts posed serious threats to national unity, General Musa demonstrated “strategic depth, operational discipline, and patriotic commitment” in coordinating military and intelligence efforts across the country.
According to the groups, Musa’s professional journey reflects years of experience in counter-insurgency operations and joint force coordination, which have translated into improved synergy among Nigeria’s armed forces and security agencies.
They further noted that his leadership aligns closely with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in strengthening security as a foundation for economic recovery and national cohesion.
“Without security, there can be no meaningful development. General Musa has continued to provide the credibility and stability required to drive this national objective,” the statement read.
The groups also addressed what they described as growing unease among certain political actors, alleging that Musa’s rising national profile—built on performance rather than political ambition—has unsettled individuals who benefit from instability and misinformation.
They cautioned against attempts to politicize his role, emphasizing that the Defence Minister is not engaged in any political contest nor pursuing personal political ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections.
“General Christopher Musa remains a loyal supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and is fully committed to ensuring a secure environment for democracy to thrive. Security is not a campaign tool but the foundation upon which governance and development stand,” the statement added.
The coalition further revealed that support for Musa’s leadership continues to grow across Northern Nigeria, with grassroots movements and civic groups increasingly recognizing his contributions to national stability.
Describing the momentum as “a reflection of public confidence rather than political mobilization,” the statement stressed that the call for support is driven by results, integrity, and a shared commitment to Nigeria’s unity.
The groups concluded by urging Nigerians to prioritize national interest over political distractions, noting that individuals dedicated to service and stability must be protected and encouraged.
“A secure Nigeria is non-negotiable. Those working tirelessly to achieve it must be supported, not undermined,” the statement concluded.
