Nigeria Must Not Break: CSGG Rallies Behind Defence Minister, Calls for Unity, Prayers & Support for Armed Forces
In a strongly worded and emotional statement, the National Coordinator of Citizens Support For Good Governance (CSGG), Dr Olayinka Adeosun Olumide, alongside the Northern Coordinator, Hon Nababa Hamis Malunfashi, has called on Nigerians to stand united in support of the Honourable Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa Gwabin, amid ongoing security challenges across the country.
According to the CSGG leadership, General Musa’s transition from Chief of Defence Staff to Minister of Defence came at a critical time when Nigeria needed experience, courage, and strategic leadership at the highest level.
They noted that his role as Minister of Defence goes beyond military command to include shaping national defence policies, coordinating the Armed Forces, and ensuring the protection of Nigeria’s sovereignty.
The group highlighted some of his immediate impacts since assuming office, including improved synergy among security agencies, sustained offensives against criminal elements, renewed troop motivation, and a strong push for modern military strategies.
However, Dr Olumide expressed deep sympathy for Nigerian families who have lost loved ones due to insecurity, stating that “these losses are painful and must never be reduced to mere numbers. Every Nigerian life matters, and every loss is a wound on the nation.”
Hon Malunfashi added that while citizens have the right to demand results, it is equally important not to demoralize the Armed Forces who are making daily sacrifices to protect the country.
“This is not the time to weaken our own defenders. The Armed Forces need our prayers, encouragement, and moral support—not the negativity that enemies of peace wish to see,” he said.
The CSGG leaders warned against the activities of “merchants of war” who seek to exploit national challenges to spread division and hopelessness among Nigerians.
They urged citizens across all regions to unite, pray for the nation, and support ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability.
“Nigeria will overcome. But we must stand together, support our leaders, and uplift the morale of those risking everything for our safety.”
Every Nigerian Life Matters.
Support Our Troops. Pray for Nigeria.
