Tinubu’s 2027 Prospects Strengthened by National Alliances, Uba Sani’s Role and CG Musa’s Social Capital — Bobai

By Abraham Adeyemi

Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to the Kaduna State Governor, Hon. Victor Mathew Bobai, has expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign, citing political realignments across the country, Governor Uba Sani’s national mobilisation role and the professional and social capital of Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd.), among factors shaping the political landscape.

Bobai made the remarks while interacting with journalists on the emerging political realities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, the political environment has changed considerably since 2023, with the Tinubu administration developing broader relationships across geopolitical zones and political constituencies.

He noted that President Tinubu appointed Governor Uba Sani as Renewed Hope Ambassador and Deputy Director-General for Party Outreach, Engagement and Mobilisation, giving Kaduna State a significant role in the national mobilisation architecture. The Presidency said the assignment is aimed at strengthening engagement, inclusiveness and coordination ahead of the 2027 election.

“Governor Uba Sani has been given a national responsibility because of his organisational capacity. His role gives Kaduna a strategic position in the Renewed Hope mobilisation, and we must take that responsibility seriously,” Bobai said.

CG Musa’s Professional and Social Capital
Bobai also identified the professional and social capital of General Christopher Musa (rtd.), Minister of Defence, as another important factor in the political conversation surrounding the Tinubu administration.

He described Musa’s decades of military service, including his tenure as Chief of Defence Staff, as a significant source of public recognition and goodwill.

General Musa served as Chief of Defence Staff from 2023 until October 2025 before President Tinubu appointed him Minister of Defence in December 2025. The Presidency described him as a distinguished soldier with extensive operational and command experience.

“General Christopher Musa has accumulated professional and social capital through decades of service to Nigeria. From his military career to his tenure as Chief of Defence Staff and now as Minister of Defence, he has built relationships across communities and earned recognition as a professional soldier committed to national service,” Bobai said.

He recalled that President Tinubu publicly commended Musa and other military leaders for their service while Musa was Chief of Defence Staff.

Bobai argued that Musa’s public profile could contribute to conversations about the administration’s security agenda, particularly in Kaduna and Northern Nigeria.

“For many Nigerians, particularly in Kaduna, General Musa represents professional excellence, national service and a bridge across communities. His profile is one of the realities that supporters of the administration will take to the people as we discuss 2027,” he said.

He also pointed to Musa’s continued involvement in national security policy. In August 2026, President Tinubu included the Defence Minister among members of an 11-man committee tasked with preparing a comprehensive National Threat Assessment and a five-year Strategic Defence Operations Plan.

Kaduna and Southern Kaduna
On Kaduna, Bobai said Governor Uba Sani’s administration would be judged by citizens on its record, while acknowledging that insecurity remained a major concern requiring sustained government attention.

He said the political conversation should not obscure the concerns of communities affected by kidnapping and banditry.

“Our people have legitimate concerns about security, and government must continue to protect lives and property. But we must also be careful not to turn every security challenge into an instrument of political division or make accusations without evidence,” he said.

Bobai said he had engaged communities across Kaduna and would continue listening to citizens ahead of the elections.

He particularly mentioned Chikun and Southern Kaduna, stressing that political parties and candidates must engage the electorate directly rather than relying exclusively on social-media narratives.

Tinubu’s National Political Structure
Bobai also pointed to political developments across the South-South, South-East, South-West, North-Central, North-East and North-West, arguing that the 2027 contest would be influenced by alliances that cut across traditional party boundaries.

He cited the participation of several governors and senior political figures in the Renewed Hope mobilisation structure. At an April 2026 State House engagement, the Presidency listed governors from several regions, including Uba Sani of Kaduna, Agbu Kefas of Taraba, Hyacinth Alia of Benue, Mohammed Inuwa of Gombe, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta and others.

Bobai said such engagements demonstrated the breadth of the political conversation surrounding the 2027 election.

“We Must Not Confuse Social Media With the Electorate”
The Kaduna public affairs aide cautioned against interpreting social-media trends as definitive evidence of voters’ intentions.

“Social media is important, but it is not the polling unit. We must go to the communities, listen to people and understand their concerns. The electorate will ultimately make the decision,” he said.

He maintained that supporters of President Tinubu should focus on explaining the administration’s policies and record rather than engaging in unnecessary confrontation.

According to him, the combination of the President’s political network, Governor Uba Sani’s mobilisation role and the public profile of senior figures such as General Musa provides important material for the administration’s engagement with Nigerians.

“I support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and I believe the 2027 election should be a contest of records, policies, leadership and vision. Our duty is to present our case to Nigerians and allow them to make their decision,” Bobai said.

He also appealed for peaceful political engagement, urging supporters of all parties to avoid inflammatory rhetoric, misinformation and unverified allegations.

“Nigeria belongs to all of us. We can disagree politically without destroying the unity and peace of our communities. The ballot box will ultimately provide the answer,” he added.
